Eastern Buzzard

The Buteo japonicus (Eastern buzzard or Japanese buzzard) is a medium to large prey bird that is often considered a subspecies of the Buteo buteo (widespread common buzzard). Beginning in 2008, some scientists regarded it as a different species, while some now regard it as just one or three subspecies. It is originally from Mongolia, China , Japan and several islands offshore. Few birds winter in Southeast Asia, at least.

The eastern buzzard is a bird of prey, with large circular wings, a powerful neck, a tail of medium length and, when opened, a fan shape. It is extremely adaptable to the ecosystem and there is no need to provide any sort of climate, but a wide circle over the fields is typically seen circling.

The overall plumage is brownish, and the mouth shape, which is distinct from many other nearby raptors, is apparently smaller. With brown marks, the ventral surface is light-coloured. The brown wingtips and flanges are evident during flight, and the dark wrist spots are easy to observe as well.
