Taiwan Wren-babbler

In the Pnoepygidae family, the Taiwan cupwing or Taiwan wren-babbler (Pnoepyga formosana) is a species of a passerine bird. On the island of Taiwan, the plant is endemic. It was classified as a subspecies of the Scaly-breasted cupwing for a long period of time.

The bird averages 8 to 9 cm in weight. The bird seems to be tailless, olive-brown from above, and the chest has the pattern of fish scales on the plumage. The Taiwan wren-babbler is very similar, with pale-colored scales on an almost black background, to the Scaly-breasted cupwing. The wings and legs are shorter and the color of the bird is reddish-brown.
